The Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand Hotel sure knew how to put a grin on my face. I given a huge room with an oceanfront view and greeted by a delightfully delicious dessert. Who looks at chocolate covered strawberries dipped in a sweet and tangy cream and frowns? No one!
I'm supremely thankful the resort provided me with such an accommodation. This room is clearly meant for more than just one person. My stress melted just looking ta this massive room, enormous bed, luxury toiletries and an oceanfront view.
This trip completely changed my misconception that Cancun was just a budget destination for rowdy spring breakers. It ended up being one of my most relaxing resort getaways. For the next few days, I didn't wake up to the blaring sirens of my alarm clock at the crack of down. I awoke to the sound of ocean waves lapping against the shore. I didn't rush to catch my train in the mornings. I strolled to Cancun Caribe’s buffet restaurant filled with a variety of food every hour of the day, every day of the week.
My days were filled with pool hopping from the main pool to the infinity pool to the hot tub and back. I no longer drooled in my sleep during the train ride home from a 10 hour work day. Instead, I was drooling in my sleep from an amazing spa session after detoxing in the state of the art steam room and sauna.
I didn't have to order takeout because I was too exhausted to walk a few extra blocks. I had a variety of choices, La Concha (Italian), El Oriental (Asian), El Mirador, Cocay, El Jardin, Pizza Corner & Cafe Sole, all within a two minute walk from my beachfront hotel room. It was refreshing not having to slump into the shower and face plant on my bed after a long day, I took leisurely night time dips in the hot tub and my sweet time showering in a bathroom with three (yes, three!) massaging shower heads.
And to add a little culture to this trip, nearby is a hidden ancient Mayan ruin and the highest point in Cancun - Templo del Alacran, The Scorpion Temple.
This press trip to Cancun, Mexico was made possible by Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand Hotel. Thoughts and opinions are strictly my own.
