(Re)connecting inĀ Madrid on my way to Prague is making me reflect on past trips abroad.

While the rest of NYC strutted down 6th Avenue for the annual Halloween parade, I was on my way to Prague via Madrid. It’s been a few years since I visited, but the MAD airport architecture is just as amazing as I remembered. Infinitely better than the cronut I had while waiting for my connecting flight.

This was the first time I flew anywhere…alone. When I went to study abroad in China, it was with my elementary and high school friends. When I traveled to Thailand and Vietnam, it was with my MBA classmates. When I went to Honduras, it was my college friend. Turkey and Spain was with my then-boyfriend.

I didn’t realize how comfortable I hadĀ gotten doing things on my own. Thanks, single life. I’mĀ still not brave enough to travel solo though. Props to all the female travelers who do. And I just realized my travel duffle matches MAD airport. Coincidence. šŸ™‚
